Scottish Parliament, Debating chamber roof nodes

 

111 unique structural roof nodes - Detail draughting and fabrication.

 

This project involved the production of fabrication drawings and manufacture of 111 brushed stainless steel nodes, for the main debating chamber roof. Client supplied design geometry dictated that no two nodes were the same – over 4,000 drawings were produced to allow for accurate and efficient fabrication. Each node weighs around 500Kg.

 

Our nodes are installed in the main debating chamber roof, holding the steel reinforced oak beams in place. The nodes, together with the beams form a 30m wide pillar-less structure.
