Heat Shielding

 

Drilling derrick heat shielding and support brackets - Survey and Design.

 

A requirement to protect a Jack Up Rig from the flare of a production platform initiated a survey to identify areas which were at risk from the heat radiation. This survey developed into the design for heat shielding on the derrick, crane wire sheaves and lifeboat areas.

 

The derrick heat shielding frames were designed to be supported by brackets ‘clamped’ onto the existing steelwork and called for over 35 different types of brackets. MSD personnel were present at the shipyard to supervise installation of our designs.
